The work is monitoring-and-correction. It is among the more reactive G-pillar actions but also among the most consequential because misinformation that propagates through AI systems can be persistent and damaging.

AI systems sometimes assert claims about brands that are inaccurate, outdated, or misleading. Without correction, these claims propagate: one AI system’s mistake gets cited by users, gets cited in derivative AI systems, gets archived in retrieval contexts. Stage assessment: G-12 is authority-stage work. Brands without substantive AI presence have nothing to monitor; brands with substantial AI presence benefit from G-12 as ongoing protection.

What gets done in this action

G-12 work proceeds through four phases.

Phase 1 — Monitoring infrastructure. Systems are established to detect what AI systems are saying about the brand. Methods include:

  • Periodic prompt-pattern testing against AI platforms
  • Brand monitoring across AI-citable surfaces (Wikipedia, Wikidata, knowledge graphs)
  • User reporting channels (the brand can establish channels for users to report inaccurate AI claims)
  • Pattern recognition over time

Phase 2 — Misinformation triage. Detected inaccuracies are triaged by severity. Categories: minor inaccuracies (small errors that can be addressed through standard channels), substantial inaccuracies (larger errors that warrant deliberate correction work), reputation-affecting inaccuracies (errors that produce real damage and warrant immediate attention).

Phase 3 — Correction execution. Corrections are made through appropriate channels:
